Announcing New Pricing for How To Catch Creation

The Obsidian team is dedicated to bringing you bold and exciting Black theatre, whether through co-productions or producing independently. As a nomadic company, co-productions have been vital to our growth and helping us reach new audiences. In these cases, we follow the ticketing strategies established by our partners. However, when we produce a show independently, we prioritize our community by ensuring ticket prices remain as accessible as possible.
Starting Thursday, February 12, Soulpepper Theatre is transitioning to a Countdown Pricing model for How to Catch Creation and future productions. This means the earlier you purchase tickets to the show, the more you save.
Countdown Pricing Example:
- 40% off when you book 4+ months out from the first performance
- 30% off when you book 3 months out from the first performance
- 20% off when you book 2 months out from the first performance
- 15% off when you book 1 month out from the first performance
Each level is available for a limited number of tickets. If the limit isn’t reached, the discount moves down as the performance date approaches. Once a show begins, tickets are sold at market value.

Why the change?
- As the cost of living continues to rise, we know that it makes it harder to attend theatre as often as you’d like.
- At the same time, ticket revenue covers only about one-third of what it costs to bring each production to life. We’re always balancing affordability for our audiences with the real costs of creating the great work on our stages.
